WHO I AM

I grew up loving and playing sports. I am very glad to have been introduced to sports and fitness at such a young age because that love for exercise and competition are pillars of my life that I can always fall back on. I graduated Officer Candidates School for the Marine Corps and unfortunately was not able to serve because of undiagnosed mental illness. In the midst of trying to repurpose my life, I found myself falling back to something I always had control over: my physical fitness. And so, I begun my journey on becoming a group exercise instructor and then a personal trainer and excelling at these both.

This industry is difficult to navigate for someone not well versed in it. It is oversaturated with bad faith actors: people who are trying to make a quick buck, spew misinformation, program dangerous workouts, and are toxic. Gyms are exploitative of their staff and members. Everyone is a number to turn for profit. Social media just exacerbates these problems. It is quite draining. Our health is all interconnected and to see people and institutions exploit that and take it for granted, as a professional and a human being, was and still is extremely frustrating for me.

Now, this all sounds quite dismal, but there is hope because there is a supportive and subset of professionals in this industry that care about their clients, supporters, and want to teach the next generation of professionals. I am quite fortunate to have found myself drawn to these people. I am actively trying to create an impact in this industry in whatever way I can so I can help others, in a similar manner as these people have done for me. This endeavor is not solely about creating a premium service, but about trying to make a small dent in an industry that is convoluted, through education and empowerment as well.
